Donate
Wouldn’t it be powerful if we all donate as a group to democrat campaigns? It would send them a clear message that our club is working hard to help them win! No need to attend a fundraiser or even create a fundraiser— we have come up with a simple way to do this!
Since 2018, the club has successfully raised money for our democratic candidates, doing our part to help them toward victory.

Why It's Important to Give to Political Candidates
Donating to political candidates plays a vital role in the democratic process. Here are the key reasons it matters — especially in today’s political and legal landscape:
1. Supporting Candidates Who Reflect Your Values
Contributions help elect leaders who represent your views on critical issues like healthcare, climate, civil rights, and economic policy. If you don’t give, candidates you oppose may get elected with support from others who do.

2. Amplifying Your Voice in the Political System
Financial contributions — while not buying direct influence — can help make your concerns more visible to campaigns. Donors are more likely to be invited to events, town halls, and policy discussions, giving you a greater opportunity to engage with decision-makers

3. Offsetting the Influence of Special Interests (Post–Citizens United)
The Citizens United v. Federal Election Commission (2010) decision by the U.S. Supreme Court allowed corporations, unions, and outside groups to spend unlimited money on elections, so long as they do not coordinate directly with candidates.
This ruling dramatically increased the role of super PACs and dark money in politics — often giving well-funded special interests disproportionate influence. Individual donations are one of the few tools everyday citizens have to counterbalance this influx of outside money and ensure grassroots voices are still heard.

4. Making Campaigns Competitive
Running for office requires significant resources — from travel and media to staff and outreach. Your donation helps level the playing field, especially for challengers, newcomers, or candidates from underrepresented communities.

5. Driving Civic Engagement
Donors are statistically more likely to vote, volunteer, and stay involved in the political process. Giving money isn’t just about funding — it’s often a sign of deeper commitment to making change.

We the People for Education
Students are best served when local leaders work together with parents and educators to support and enrich our schools. That starts with electing school board candidates who put our students first, focus on good governance and effective policies, and work towards positive outcomes versus political divisiveness.
